Feb 25 ~ Mar 2 - Interaction

Thursday, February 28th

I guess this first one is kind of an interaction. I look at it as the view the dog sees, if you catch my drift. This is the only interaction type shot I got today. I actually am posting these mostly for Dewey's benefit. She mentioned she wanted to see some of the things you can get with the fish eye. I think one of the cool things you get with a fish eye is a cool, different perspective. If you shoot things looking up, you can really get that child's perspective. Try to think of things like that to get interesting perspectives. HHCC welcome wanted.

Well we went to the zoo today, so here is my best interaction shot. It feels like I am eating right along next to this zebra. HHCC welcome and wanted.

Love the close-up - looks like he could be eating in your hand!

So how close were you when you took this? It looks like you were standing right next to it. I love the zoo, think I need to go back soon. I want to see more fish eye photos. I got my lens and am now so curious as to what everyone does with it.

Zebras are so funny, and I like the way he looks kind of funny like his feet are right up by his head, and the way you see the vertical stripes on his face and the horizontal stripes of his leg. Was this with the fisheye? I bet a zebra is the perfect subject for a fisheye.

Love the comp and that dof!!! You did excellent on wb, too, especially with all those "greys" in there. Did you CWB?

I love this! I love the way you cropped the photo, the stripes in the zebra's face, and the lines "echoed" in the fence in the back. I love the DOF, and then, what a fantastic subject! I want to see zebras! I have about as much of a chance of seeing zebras as I have of seeing unicorns!

Love this shot! I really like how you just focused on his face! Great composition!

Such a great composition on this, Travis. I also like the DOF. Very effective. I don't think I've ever been to the zoo when there's snow on the ground.

I love how you are low to the ground, and eye level with him! I might take out the vignetting, and maybe crop out the hoof coming from the side of his leg... I think it would make the photo strong! I also love how the lines in the bgrnd...and how they "interact" with the lines on the zebra!

Just have to add, I love the fire hydrant shot. Too funny to see it from a dog's eye view!

Mom2Drew said...

YES! I love this Travis, thank you for posting. I like your idea of getting down to get a "child-like" perspective, or "dogs eye view" in this case. That hydrant is very cool.

these shots do give such a differnt perspective.nicley done!

Love the fire hydrant and the journaling you wrote about the view! Too funny! Your zebra shot is fabulous too!

that fire hydrant is awesome! love the theory behind the angle. definitely probably how the dog would see it...lol!

really like the angle of the Zebra photo. Cool interaction.

A fish eye lens would be so fun to have! Really neat perspective on these. I'm so not qualified for HHCC! But I wondered what the fire hydrant shot would look like from the other side with the full shadow in the background? Would that even be possible with that lens?

That first one is really cool!!!!

Oh duh, I guess if I'd thought about the focal length of a fisheye I'd have known you'd have to be standing right on top of that zebra to get that shot. :-)

Loved your comment about the fire hydrant and the dog's eye view.

That hydrant photo is neat! I love the vibrant red, and how you can also clearly make out the "water" on the cement!

LOVE these fisheye photos! I agree, it seems to be the coolest when you take the shot from down LOW or up HIGH. What is that in the 2nd one? It is so cool!

I love the fish eye photos. I am so jealous of you and Heather now. The fire hydrant...totally my favorite. Hehehe. Thanks for the chuckle. I love your sense of humor.

I never really thought of using a fish eye before. It does look pretty fun and does let you see it in a different way. I really like the sculpture.
